PEP for Injection is a first-in-class, once-weekly glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) receptor agonist. It is indicated for the treatment of adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus to improve glycemic control, as well as for chronic weight management in individuals with obesity or overweight with at least one weight-related comorbidity.
As a dual incretin agonist, PEP uniquely activates both GLP-1 and GIP receptors, providing superior reductions in hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) and body weight compared to selective GLP-1 receptor agonists. The product enhances glucose-dependent insulin secretion, suppresses glucagon release, delays gastric emptying, and reduces appetite via central mechanisms.
PEP for Injection is supplied as a sterile, preservative-free, clear and colorless solution in a single-dose pen or vial. It is administered via subcutaneous injection once weekly, with or without meals.
